Spring 2012 Venture Description
(Last updated 11th May!)
Team #1 -- Camigo
This team aims to provide a hip and trendy disposable camera with an after-sales full-service photo development process, at festivals and concerts. Customers buy the disposable camera at the festival, take their pictures and then drop it off at kiosks before leaving the festival. They receive the hard-copy photos a few days later in the postal mail. The team claims that many festival goers would rather not bring their expensive cameras to the festivals.
Team #2 -- iPret
This team aims to utilize iPads and other tablets to address the computer learning needs of senior citizens, e.g. in nursing homes and hospitals.
Team #3 -- innabox
This team aims to create kits (a new one every week or month) combining personal items endorsed by famous Dutch celebrities. Get to know a celebrity! And if you’re a celebrity, find a new way of marketing yourself!
Team #4 -- QR You?
This team aims to create a line of clothing that shows a QR code matched to a personalized “QR you” webpage, linking your online world with your offline life. The team envisions that a QR-code on clothing functions in much the same way that a name tag does. When you wear a name-tag, you invite people to approach you. A QR-code on clothing not only invites people to scan your clothing, but also can serve as ‘license’ for you to approach others. The team envisions a cultural shift in how strangers might interact in society.
Team #6 -- Vimused
This team aims to help wine and music aficionados to combine these two passions in one luxury gift. The team would like to market their product as the perfect blend of wine and music, and will include a small note in the product to explain why the wine has been paired with the music. One underlying assumption is that wine “snobs” wish they knew what music to listen to, and music snobs wish they know what wine to drink. This product reduces the costs of searching for the perfect match.
Team #7 -- StudentonDemand
This team aims to create a web-driven service that matches customers who need their chores done, with students who are willing to provide low-cost services. They would like to improve upon the service provided by mijnstudent.nl.
Team #8 -- Real Deal
This team aims to create a dating company that focuses on events with a concert-like show. Today’s online dating websites are not very good at matchmaking people. People often mis-represent themselves on these websites, and in fact, online dating websites use a business model where inefficiency in matchmaking is valuable. Team “Real Deal” wants to turn parts of the dating process into entertainment (i.e. a spectator sport).
Team #9 -- Dutch Dry
This team aims to create trendy swim/running shorts for guys with a waterproof pocket for valuables. Their overall mission is to support a mobile yet active and secure lifestyle.
Team #10 -- LED's Light Up!
This team aims to create a one-stop webshop for the widest range of high-quality LED letter lighting. The team wants to combine trends in (a) LED lighting, (b) customization, and (c) the growing technical sophistication in today’s living rooms and homes.
Team #11 -- Inscription
This team aims to create a jewelry company specializing in "friendship" bracelets with customizable and interchangeable parts that reflect various emotions and feelings.
Team #12 -- Pro Select
This team aims to create a web-based service that helps systematize and mediate the interview process between companies and prospective employees.
Team #13 -- WelMeet
This team aims to create a web-based service that aids in focused on-demand networking.
Team #14 -- Festival en Vogue
This team aims to create a webshop catering to women, and specifically offering festival apparel with festival accessories. This year in 2012, there are now 700+ festivals in Amsterdam during the Spring/Summer months, and women have a difficult time deciding exactly what to wear and bring for these festivals.
Team #15 -- Stickerize
This team wants to create a webshop that offers trendy or amusing stickers to customize cheap furniture (i.e. IKEA). They would like to provide a more sophisticated substitute for the mykea.com line of stickers.
Team #16 -- SnelVerzorgd
This team envisions that men don’t like to buy toiletry items (toothpaste, deodorant, etc.). They would like to make the entire purchasing process more convenient for men by offering a subscription service. Men can ask the web service to deliver replenishments every month, for a fee.
Team #17 -- Your Amsterdam Romance
This team aims to create a service that provides tours and tour-like adventures for couples (mainly non-Amsterdammer Dutch or foreign tourists). These tours will be hassle-free yet customized for individualized tastes.
